How to calculate Number of Floor Tiles
Whether you’re planning on installing your own tile floor or simply calculating the materials you need to budget for, determining how much tiles to be used is very important.
Here, we take a look at how you can calculate the number of Floor Tiles in a simple way without needing to hire an engineer. Check it out:
What You’ll Need
Paper
Pen or pencil
Measuring tape
Calculator (Optional)
How To Do It
1. Measure the length of a side of the room. If you’re using the tiles for a wall project, the length of the wall will be measured, that is, from up to down.
2. Measure the length of the other side of the room. If it is wall project, then measure the length of the wall running from left to right.
3. Multiply the two measurements. Multiplying the length by the width provides you with the square footage of the project area. For example, if the room measures 10 feet wide by 15 feet long, multiply 10 by 15. The square footage of this room is 150 square feet.
4. Translate the square footage to the amount of tile you need.
Most times, there are usually 10 square feet tiles in a box, as such, if the square footage of the room is 150 square feet, you’ll be buying 15 boxes of tiles.
5. Buy extra
You should never buy the exact amount of tiles you need as some could break due to mistakes or some other causes, as such, it’s important you make provisions for extra tiles.
