Introduction to the Position
Job Summary
- Our client is seeking a highly skilled and innovative Research Engineer to join their dynamic R&D team.
- The ideal candidate will lead cutting-edge projects focused on developing sustainable and efficient energy technologies.
What You’ll Do
- Lead technical research on renewable energy systems (solar mini-grids, SHS, hybrid systems, etc.)
- Analyze system performance data and recommend improvements
- Design and simulate energy systems using tools like HOMER Pro, HelioScope, and other modeling software
- Stay updated with the latest developments in solar tech, batteries, and policy frameworks
- Support the preparation of technical documentation for grants, bids, and regulatory compliance
- Collaborate across teams (engineering, project dev, regulatory) to integrate research findings into execution

Experience and credentials:
Requirements
- Master’s degree in Physics or Electronics Engineering.
- Proficiency in system design and energy modeling tools (HOMER, HelioScope, PVsyst, etc).
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
- Familiarity with REA programs and Nigeria’s off-grid regulatory landscape is a plus.
- Good communication and report-writing skills.
- Self-driven, resourceful, and curious like a cat in a lab.
Bonus if you have:
- Experience working on donor-funded energy access projects.
